Block printmaking is such a fun and gratifying activity, and WePress makes it easy by teaching you how to make prints using rubber blocks. The rubber is soft like an eraser so it cuts very easily with a regular lino cutting tool. You will get a chance to create a design / image, cut your own block, and print it to create a set of 10 cards. Letters from our letterpress type collection may be used as stamps as well.

(Note: to those looking for the Intro to Letterpress workshop, it will be posted with a new date soon!)

Kathy Shimizu is a sansei (third generation Japanese Canadian), graphic designer, artist, and community activist from Winnipeg who has lived in Vancouver for many years, with a 5-year hiatus in Philadelphia. She has been making block prints since the late 90s and received her Bachelor of Design degree in Communication Design from Emily Carr Institute in May 2005.
