Make a book: eight sections on ribbons, including endpapers, and we’ll complete the project with a cover. All materials supplied, but feel free to bring some fabric for the cover if you like (at least 8 x 12 inches). You’ll learn an easy and durable method for creating books of your own!
Space is limited and we are able to accommodate up to 8 participants. You are best to RSVP in advance via Eventbrite. If not all tickets are sold online, drop in tickets will be sold at the studio. Supplies will be provided (included in the price of registration).
Karen Ward lives in the Downtown Eastside and is an artist and activist. Her work often incorporates the stuff that other people throw away: it is a grassroots approach to art that feeds her political work, and of course vice versa. She saw her first letterpress almost twenty years ago, and did academic work on the history of printing and bookmaking. Much of Ward’s work involves using old forms in new and unexpected ways.
