Longstitch bookbinding is a Medieval technique practised by both guild bookbinders and amateurs. Straight forward stitching results in a complex visual that resembles the many stringed mandolin. Each student will complete at least one softcover book ideal for sketching or journaling.
No prior experience is necessary. All materials and tools will be provided. All supplies are vegan.
Suzan Lee is a local bookbinding instructor who learned her bookbinding skills at the Center for Book Arts in New York. She is affiliated with the local chapter of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG). She has been teaching bookbinding for over 10 years. Her interest in bookbinding started with her fascination with the wide range of materials and structures involved in binding books.
