Dancing as Remembering

Come join us for a special event where we will be connecting to our memories through dance. This in-person workshop will take place at MacLean Park Fieldhouse. The workshop will be guided by interdisciplinary artist Sarah Wong.
Dancing as Remembering is a multidisciplinary workshop exploring the body’s relationship to memory. In the first half, we will dance in the park, connecting to each other and the land through guided improvisation tasks. In the second half, we will craft postcards, recording our movement experiences through embodied writing and visual art exercises.
No prior experience is required. All workshops are free to attend and open to any level of experience. Space is limited, so please register in advance. To allow as many people as possible to participate, we kindly ask that you register for only one workshop per artist.

Dates: May 9th, May 30th & June 27th, 12:30-3PM
Location: MacLean Fieldhouse (710 Keefer St.)

Grounded in the archive of their queer, disabled, and 2nd(ish) generation body, their practice traces lineages of family history, community resistance, movement across land, and slow gestures of care. Most recently, they have been excited to share their dance and visual art practices through facilitating community-engaged workshops. sarahwong.ca / @swongski
